As they neared the strangely moving mist, their pace quickened. The thought of a possible methane pool invoked a surge of energy they did not realise they had. Tamblin, in particular was slightly ahead of the other two and as he got to the top of small rise, he shouted something and descended down the other side. By the time Murfon and Karjon had reached the top of the rise they were greeted with the sight of Tamblin waist deep in a methane pool! He was soaking up the nutrients like it was his first meal ever! Karjon then noticed a problem. The pool was very small. So small that Tamblin took up all the available space. It was only big enough for one. If Tamblin stayed there too long, there would be no nutritional value left in it. It could work.† Tamblin suggested. He hadn’t even listened to Karjon. Murfon was nodding his head in agreement. Karjon was getting quite worried now. He had to say something to diffuse this idea without upsetting them. â€Å"Tell you what. We are all very tired. We need rest. We have been travelling non-stop for about six mini cycles. Our bodies can’t handle that sort of torture. Back at our Hive, we always had a rest cycle after every two work periods. I say we rest here until we have fully recovered before deciding where we go next.† Karjon’s logic was sound enough for the other two to agree. So they each found a convenient rock to rest against and relaxed. As this was the first real rest their bodies had received for such a long time, they each drifted off into a deep sleep. Hive members almost never sleep. Only the sick and infirm do so. So it was quite a rare experience for them. As Karjon’s eyes began to close and overwhelm his senses into oblivion, he could have sworn he saw two red robed figures approach them from behind the next hill. He dismissed it as his imagination getting the better of him. He did not know much about this sleep phenomenon but he did remember about the concept of dreaming. That had to be it.
